I don't think you shocked anyone with the Asian pricing you gave. Simply because it is untrue. While pricing is better closer to where it was made (duh) it's not $800-1000. It's $2500 USD in Taiwan for example. Maybe you are pricing the cheap Chinese made scooters, not a Honda.

Had mine about two weeks and seem to be getting 80-90 MPG on mostly very short trips.Easily cruises in the 50MPH range and tops out in low 60's with me (6'2" 225lbs.
Very good quality but it seems a little expensive - About $4,250 with all taxes, tag etc. here in Fort Lauderdale.
