8000 mile review

Well I have been driving my VTX 1300 R for 5 1/2 months and 8000 miles later, what do I think? When it rains, I miss riding it. You have to understand I am one of the ole school riders who ride to ride, not for show. Yes its a good looking bike, but I bought my bike to ride, I take off alone in the... morning and I pick a direction, I love taking back country roads till they end, and turn what ever the road looks nicer.
My ride is good in the city traffic, my ride is good for long country roads or freeways, Its not good for sharp turns and it does eat more gas than the smaller models, I have extra gear on it and a 21 inch windshield and get about 42 MPG average. Personally i think it seems to run even better after the first 100 miles on a trip, I dont like that 1st gear gring, but have adjusted my habits so it doesnt happen that much anymore. IS it the fastest thing out there, NO, is it fast enough for me, oh ya, it is not a sport bike in any sense. I do know I have complete confidence I can take any trip or go any where I want to alone and I never have to worry about my ride letting me down. Its smooth, but still you know you are on a bike. I am looking at tour bikes also, but dont see myself ever getting rid of this baby for a while. Its a fine bike, allways gets me where I am going, low maintainance cost. Honda VTX-R

The above review is true and accurate. It's a joy to ride and for a bike with a 1312 cc engine you'd think it would be hard to balance and handle but it's just a joy to ride and for a cruiser it's a rocket with 0-60 in the low 5's and easily rides over 125 mph and liquid cooled. The torque is amaz...ing as it allows power throughout the entire engine cycle so there's no need to hit say 4500 rpm to hit the power band because it's basically constant throughout. The bike is nearly 700lbs and another 200 with me so were at 900 or so pounds. Dual spark plugs per cyl. similar to an airplane engine provides additinal power. The only drawback but not really noticeable (I live in Florida) is it's carborated vrs. other models that are fuel injected however despite this the VTX will destroy any other manufacturer's cruiser 0-60 while getting 45 miles per gallon however I'm doing a chart on tanks, miliage, and driving methods. I hope this helps. Don't waste your money on a Harley because it's just the name you're buying except the VROD but that's an exceptional bike that's the only one in the entire lineup that's liquid cooled. Don't forget to look at the VTX Series from Honda

I own an 07 Black VTX1300R/S and it just sparkles and on the performance side, it would eat most other comparible bikes in the 0-60 or 60-80 MPH. I have Blown away countless harley shit box motorcycles. It's a fad. Look at the common driver and you'll see that they tout "It's good old fation...ed American Engineering." That's bullshit because my bike was assembled in the USA in Ohio and was assembled by americans supporting their families JUST LIKE HARLEY. Tell me... Why does Harley, until Vrod, Night Hawk or whatever it is make all of their bikes air cooled... That makes NO sense and they are slow as hell. I blow them away and they eventually get to the light and say... What the hell are you driving??? Then he says Honda and is surprised as hell. He then asked me how much? I said I paid cash and payed 9000. His mouth almost hit the ground and the jealousy kicked in quickly. I have a 5 year warranty as well. He doesnt and for the same money he bought some softtail or their entry level 880 cc engine bike. My bike is almost twice that size engine wise so let's cut the bullshit and if you don't want to wave to another rider because they're not riding your disappointment, then open your mind becasue your an idiot. Knowledge is power. I will drive my bike four years and sell leaving a 1 year warranty left for the buyer and get a fair trade. My bike will not brake down and while I'm in Florida and sitting in traffic, my liquid cooled system with fan kicks in and keeps the motor nice and cool. You have to turn your bike off before you damage your engine. I admit, I'd buy the new Night Rod or whatever it is becasue it is what my bike is but better for once however the sticker is 16000 and change with less warranty. Take care...Pat H. the wife loves it!

smooth, sharp, easy to ride, well balanced and it looks good too. does what you want, when you want it to. LOOKS Great too. I got this one for my wife who now will NOT ride with me on my Wing. Figure that one out. SHE LOVES it and rides it everywhere i go and has a great time doing it. IT LOOKS ...good too.

clanging or knocking

I own a vtx 1300r 2007 and im hearing alot of clanging or knocking when riding. Similar to what you might hear when going up a hill but it does it all the time. Regardless of gas type. Read Full Review
