By (I am an Owner) on Oct 23, 2008i stopped riding motorcycles in 1983 due to an accident in which i was struck by a drunk driver. i was 24 years old and had been riding bikes since i was a kid. i was married and had 2 young kids and while i was laying on the street i thought i would never see my family again. here today 2008 i am ... 49 years old i wont tell you how many trips i took to the local bike shop wanting to buy another . i would walk in look around and sit on one then the fear of driving again would overwhelm me and i would leave. as the years progressed the urge became stronger finally in 2007 i walked into a local dealership and after saving a small amount of monies i purchased a honda 1100 shadow spirit. i was so afraid of driving it home and i was overwhelmed with fear. i started it up and got my instructions always keeping my mototrcycle endoresment for so many years. as i started down the roadway the fear was there but i was also overwhelmed by the feeling i had forgotton so many years ago. the feling of the air brushing against me and the openness of the roadway. well the fear was there everytime i got on the bike and after a few weeks i couldnt get off. there was plenty of power on the 1100 spirit but after a few close calls by other drivers who had sped past me i decided a bigger bike might be what i needed. i went to the dealership again and looked for several months and after one trip i saw the HONDA 1800 VTX F on sale. it was the right price and after some haggling i was able to purchase the 1800 vtx f. what a ride. it had the speed and comfort for highway drivng and most comfortable on the backroads. i enjoy this bike so much and think if you are a beginner dont buy the smaller bikes get something that is going to get you down the road. my only regret is that after 24 years of not riding because of the acident i missed out on some great rides. the good thing is im making up for it now. back then i used my bike for work and pleasure. today its strictly pleasure. my next bike if i can afford is the honda goldwing i love them but maybe in a few years if my back holds up ill have one. for all you folks who are thinking bout an 1800 from someone who missed out on a lot of years you cant go wrong with the 1800 vtx f .. this is my story
