This is my first bike. Overall pretty happy with it. After riding for a year, i feel this bike could definately use a fith gear, and a larger fuel tank. Good learner bike

I bought this bike and I feel the same as the previous review. It could use a 5th gear and a larger tank. Otherwise it's a great bike to learn on and drive back and forth to work. Very comfortable, easy handling, and very safe feeling to ride. Read Full Review

Awesome starter bike for the girls who want drive

I've owned this bike for three years and bought it used. It's light weight with enough power to help you get comfortable with the road and mechanics of the bike. The ride is nice requiring little Maintenance just regular tune ups. I'm 61.5 inches tall and this bike was made for me. I went on a run... with Harley owners and was able to keep up going 110 miles before having to fill up witch is fine cause it gives your bum a break. Odd shifting but a fine bike

Two women ride this bike but it's the 5'4" 60 year old who owns it. I'm 5'6" a bit younger and it's too short and stretched out for me.



I've ridden everything from a 1982 (new) Honda CM250 to a 1985 Honda 650 (cruiser) then down to a Kawasaki Vulcan 500 when the 650 just go too heavy f...or me at a dead stop.

My totally new rider partner just took the motorcycle safety class and bought a Yamaha Virago 250. She outgrew that in two months. My mantra - buy what you're comfy using but don't take the 250 on a highway (I did to make sure I wasn't lying and got rattled brain :) ). I took the class recently but bought the last model year of the Vulcan 500. Both bikes work for us differently.

Took the Honda out for a test drive at a dealer and bought it from a private person when the dealer low balled us for the 250, we were both angry. They know us and there was no excuse.

The VLX is lighter and lower than my Kaw and it's peppier. It's nice not having to dribble through six gears. Since I had the most experience, I had to ride it home over and down a mountain and the distance was about 70 miles. It's more stretched out than my 500 in every way. Speed pedal is further out, brake pedal is further out. We'll get those adjusted so braking and shifting are easier. It shifted smoothly and I was thankful for the fewer gears going down the mountain (we're in NC), so I mean mountain. It's also lighter than my Kaw. We dropped it in our driveway (my fault, I stopped and parked it pointing down) and we picked (two older women) it up easily.

If it wears like my old Hondas, I'll be really happy with it. Right now, it's a fine bike.
