2010 Road King, not perfect but as far as I'm concerned my bike for life

After 30 years of riding metrics and talking down Harley's, I was finally convinced they had changed some important things and decided to give them a try as I was shopping for something my new wife (who actually likes riding with me) could be comfortable on. After looking at a lot of bikes and ridin...g a few, I had it narrowed to a Road King Clasic or a Street Glide. I found a 2010 RKC that had been customized. Had some shoulder level apes and a Cam/intake and exhaust installed.

Well from what I have experienced along with what I test drove, this is what needs to happen to a RKC. I love this bike! I can roll almost to a stop without it starting to wobble. It is stable and comfortable for long rides and fun for short ones.

I can take off the windshield in 15 seconds and ride it like that around town and it looks like the Fat Boy's older brother. For the long rns I can put on the windshield and the Sissy bar and the extra rack and have a real Road Bike. With the engine upgrades it does whatever my wrist asks.

I have ridden this bike 10 hours in a day without feeling tired or sore or stiff. My wife probably needs a better seat for her but I am fine. I will probably also buy a Bat Wing Faring that clips on where the Windshield goes and put a sound system on that. Then I will have many versions of the bike setup for different rides.

I test rode a stock RKC 103CI and can completely see some of these comments. But if you do these few mods this bike is perfect! For me anyway!

I spent a lot more than I've ever spent on a bike, but I'm guessing it will also hold more of it's value.

Right now, I see it as the last bike I will ever have to buy. It get lots of looks and comments and compliments! For the first time in 30 years, the bike itself contributes to my motorcycle experience!

best bike...

Worst Motorcycle I've Ever Ridden

Without a doubt, and I've been riding for 30 years, the H-D Road King Classic is the worst motorcycle I have ever ridden. I rented one for two days and took it back after two hours. Why? The seating position--relationship between the seat, bars and foot boards--was Extremely uncomfortable. When I bu...y long sleeve shirts, I have to get the longer arm length. Even with my apelike arms, I had to reach so far to the bars that I thought I was riding a Ninja 600! At the same time, the floor boards were forward just enough to stretch out my legs and provide zero support for my lower body. Maybe you have a touch of alien DNA in your system and will actually like the seating on the Road King Classic, but I flat out hated it. Electra Glide--fine. Road King--terrible. Then there is the problem with the wimpy front springs that allowed the front end to dive 2" every time I eased on a bit of front brake. I can see why so many Harley riders use only the rear brake--you CAN'T use the front binders without making the Road King bounce around like a pogo stick! And finally, where the heck is neutral? The engineers at H-D have been making motorcycles since 1901. Do they really not know how to build a transmission that has a working neutral? Their stubborn refusal to acknowledge and improve the transmission is inexplicable, pitiful and embarrassing to me as an American. I would never, ever pay $18,000 for this thing when for the same money I could get a Vulcan Nomad, or a Triumph Rocket III Touring. If you just have to buy the Harley, save your pennies and get an Electra Glide. Read Full Review
