5 years, 34,000 miles later still in love...
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 02, 2014Since buying the bike in 2009 I have NEVER had a problem. At all. This was my third Evo 883 so Id assumed the need to do the usual; air, exhaust and fueling mods. So on they went; V&H black Shortshots, S&S air cleaner & K&N for better lungs and an EFI fueler. The bike rides like a rocket and the ... low, mid and high notes come surprisingly fast without guzzling. Wide grin material.. Loved the look of the Iron having previously fallen in love with the Nightster. In fact I was right in the process of converting my 05 black 883R into a form of Nightster but with an 883 black motor and twin disc black mags. Logically I bought the 883N as soon as I saw it! Wow! After owning over 10 bikes in over 25 years of riding there I was riding out of the dealer with my first ever brand new bike. Now 5 years on filled with many joyous rides and some personalizing; Nighster seat & handlebars, HD Sporty Custom forward controls,12.5" air/oil fournales shocks behind and drop in progressive spring kit bathed in slightly thicker fork oil).Dialing in the fueler has been areal buzz too. Did I mention I still love riding my Iron883N any+every chance I get? Admittedly I do love how powerful the late model Dyna big 6 speed twins feel and ride but being so happy with the fun, fast and noble ride the Sporty gives so willingly- even the fun Ive had tuning the EFI etc. makes me think that the only way Id trade her in would be if they banned gasoline... Then Id have to take a look at the Livewire ;-) PS; Just remebered that the satin black denin paint is NOT as durable as most HDs paint. Just as well it still looks good when not even clean nor scratch-free. Theyve sorted it now so the new Irons wear better quality paint.

Love it...
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 23, 2010I waited a year before commenting because I wanted miles and time on the bike under my belt.
The stock chrome pipes came off and replaced with flat-black V&H "Short Shots" and the look and sound are better. The bike is comfortable for an hour. Then it's time to walk a bit. I'm 5'11". ... The speed is wicked; 110 mph on I-95 with throttle to spare. The look is "industrial" and exactly to my tastes. The price is an easy 8K before tax, title, etc.
Best bike I've ever owned, no regrets other than those "bold" chrome stock pipes. IMO, they gotta go.

First Harley
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 11, 2010I had decided to buy a Harley Sportster and tried them all. I decided that my favourite to look at was the Iron 883, most comfortable handlebars were on the nightster (being wider and further back) and most suitable foot controls were on the custom (being forward mounted). So I ordered an Iron with ... bars from a nightster and forward controls. Ideal for the taller person. Perfect!

GREAT looking bike
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 19, 2010I bought this bike when Harley had the ride a sportster for a year and trade in for a dyna, softail, or touring bike and get MSRP back within a year. It was my first Harley and I loved the bike. I love the look of the bike. The performance was surprising. The quality and reliability was great. ... Never had a single problem and I put 3,800 miles on it within 6 months of owning it. The reason I traded it in is the ride and comfort. Now I had mine turned into a 2 up and when I was on it by myself the ride was a bit stiff, when I had my girlfriend on it, the bike was WAY TOO stiff. Even after tinkering with the suspension. It is a great bike for going from point A to point B within 100 miles, but after more you back will start to feel soar. Overall I think this bike is a GREAT value. But if you want this bike to be scratch free and looking like it did when you first bought it GOOD LUCK. I am........ how you say, anal when it comes to my toys and when the paint would get a scratch you can't polish it out or cover it up in ANY way. I did numerous searchs and no body has a fix for a scratch in the denim paint. If you want a basic bike to just cruise around town and am not anal about chips in the paint or anything. I agree this is the bike for you.

Excellent Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Aug 14, 2009I was worried about a few things when I looked into this bike. My main concerns were that I'm 6 foot even, so I worried about the mid controls being uncomfortable. Also, the 883 engine size might be disappointing.
Let me tell you, I was wrong on every single count. The stock pipes ... roar off the lot like only a Harley can. The ride is unbelievably comfortable for a standard cruiser. Above all, the bike is incredibly fun to ride. Rolling back the throttle gives me just as big a grin as the first day I rode it home.
I highly recommend this to all interested. Harley has never disappointed, and I challenge you to find a better value.

Iron 883 is the BEST
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 15, 2009I have to say, I did not like the flat black series of motorcycles to start with. My 17yo son did. He was on a Suzuki C50T 800cc bike and would sit on every bike in the Harley shop. Myself, on a wing for a long time, now on the '09 Ultra, WOW! Well, I decided to surprise him with the Iron 883. ... I am in love with the bike after traveling 50 miles. Comfortable and plenty of power. We added the short shot pipes, mini-apes and forward controls. I can not take my eyes off of it. Very nice. For a smaller bike...you can not go wrong. Oh, by the way, my son is 6'2". He loves it as well.

The coolest bike around.
By (I am an Enthusiast) on Mar 28, 2009I am in love with this cool machine. This bikes' all black, no nonsense look surpasses even the HD Nightster and the very cool Triumph Bonneville.
Not for kids and and not for posers. Straight up and neat, this ride is in my near future.
