2007 Nightster
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 30, 2010My '07 Nightster is probibly one of the best bikes out on the road. Sportster riders get a lot of crap for not more engine. I've got news for you out there: 1200cc was as big as you could get for years! The bike handles very. The combination of low seat and track like handle bars feel good. ... I prefer mid-controls over forward. What more can be said about the looks? It's a nearly perfect bike. The Nightster has been so successful that HD has made a whole line of black mat bikes that kick butt. Like all Sportsters you can only ride for a few hours before you start looking for a place to take a break.

10,000 miles
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 23, 2009I just hit the 10,000 mile marker on my 2007 Harley-Davidson 1200N Nightster. The Nightster has proven to be a workhouse, taking everything I've thrown at it for 2 years. I ride 12 months out of the year, in and around the New York Metro area. Rain, shine and temperatures below freezing, the Nightster ... keeps rumbling on.
I've performed the scheduled 1000, 5,000 and 10,000 mile services. At 4,500 miles, a leaky rocker gasket and the wiring harness for the warning lights were replaced under warranty. Aside from those minor repairs, the Nightster has been a trooper - never failing to start or get me where I needed to go.
I commute daily on this standard bike, with a quick-release rack and a roll bag to carry my gear. It's nimble enough to cut through city traffic and has enough grunt to easily take on the highway. The bike runs strong and feels solid at well above legal speeds. At 5'6", the low seat height make it easy to flat foot at a stop and a breeze to throw a leg over.
Yes, the Nightster rides hard and scrapes when you lean even moderately hard. And the 5-speed transmission reveals it's limitations above 80 mph. But it's sexy as hell and garners more looks than most of the big twin cruisers that dominate the streets in my area. The lines of Harley-Davidson Sportsters are as classic as they get and have not changed much in over 50 years. It's a pure motorcycle that provides tons of classic air cooled motorcycle charm. I still find myself smiling every time I ride the Nightster - even after 10,000 miles

Wow!
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 26, 2009Sick curb appeal. Light weight and very forgiving. I get a ton of compliments! A rediculous upgrade from my 08 Shadow Aero! Nimble and very, very quick. My buddy has a suppped up 06 Nighttrain and has a very hard time keeping up with me off the get go and then some. I put $1000 worth of performance ... upgrades and couldn't be happier. No doubt that the Nightster is the perfect in town/ country road bike, Fast as $#!! and FUN! Buy the spanner for the suspension. Two-up or bumps will make you think twice about a longer haul. An hour straight is all I can handle before a 15 min or so stop and stretch. Highly recommend starting stock as a new rider and the puttin on all the bells and whistles you desire.

Nice Surprise
By (I am a Writer) on Sep 23, 2008The look alone is enough to get you on it, but then the power and performance will keep you on it for miles to come. The low end of first gear gets you out there quick and brings you to a cruising speed that lopes along as though it's daring you to hit it harder. The only thing that could stand ... some improvement is the supsension, however, it's a sport bike not a touring bike. Overall, this is a great bike to hit either the town or the highway on.
