slide the fork tubes up through the triple clamp and buy some shocks for a dyna sport . it will seem like a big drop but it works well with plenty of ground clearence no scrapes so far its like a 4 inch drop . makes the bike look like the destroyer!!!!!!



this will work trust me it has been on my... bike for 2 years. it gets rode hard as im a mx racer i ride this thing hard all the time. those plugs on you triple clamps will pop right out with a small screw driver. just use a torque wrench to retighten the bolts and check them again after 100 miles or so good luck guys.........dealers only know what the book shows. oh you will have to trim the kick stand or bend it a little. I love my bike

I have owned my 2006 VRSCR for almost 2 years, and have over 10K miles on it. I am a fan of this bike, and am very happy that I purchased it.



The pros:



With a good tune, this bike can really move (for a Harley). The bike does come pretty lean from the factory, and the EPA has bled several pon...ies out of it, but this is fairly easy to fix.

It’s easy to work on, and has been very dependable so far.

It handles well, and has a larger lean angle than any other Harley out there, but does require using some muscle to get it leaned over.

The brakes are the first Brembo brakes on a factory Harley, and they really work well. They have lots of stopping power, and a smooth feel.

This is a gorgeous bike. I get looks and compliments everywhere I go. The sport guys like it, and the Harley guys can’t stop looking at it. I’m surprised it did not sell better, because even the riders who don’t like V-Rods compliment my ride.

The cons:

It is a fairly tall bike, and is too tall for the average rider. I'm 6' 2" and it fits me perfectly. My wife is 5' 8" and she can't touch the ground while on the bike.

This was the first year that this bike was made (only 2 years before it was discontinued due to low demand), and there are some mods that most people have found necessary to make. The rear brake pedal is too high for comfort, but can be lowered fairly easily by removing it and filing the assembly down (this can be done by hand).

The handlebar position is not for everyone - I preferred something that let me lean forward more, and so have changed to new handlebars. Unfortunately, this also meant changing out the front brake line, which was fairly expensive.

There was also a factory recall to add an additional heat shield to the rear header - it is close to the riders’ leg and in a few instances, riders were burnt. I never had this issue, but...

Due to the low demand, and since it was discontinued, finding accessories is not easy. For someone who loves to tinker with their bike and has some skills, this isn’t impossible to overcome. But if you just want to buy bolt-ons, you’ll have a hard time finding them.

It is what it is...

2006 VRSCR...I love it...on occasion I want a pure sport bike aka "rice burner" (blasphemy, I know). The bike is a pleasure to ride for the most part, my only complaints are the kinds of things that I never notice until I'm actually done with the "2-year grin" of new ownership (...read: ergonomics). Bikes previous were dirt-bikes (where I didn't wear helmets), and then a Dyna Glide (as Harley owners know, the only ergonomic challenge on a Harley is a) specific placement of handlebars and b) forward or mid foot pegs. As a 6'3" rider, I'm always challenged...I view anything with less than 1000cc as a midget bike...the Street Rod is a challenge at the handlebars.

My specific issues are how far back the bars position your arms, and the short mirror stems (although they are the longest ones Harley makes). Bottom line is, I have to physically move my head lower to see the speedometer (yes, I wear a full-face helmet) and must move my head to one side or another for a good view of what is behind me (my rides were so short when I purchased the bike in Hawaii that I never noticed these issues).

I'm lately looking at modifying to the extent of sport-bike style bars fitted directly over the forks and possibly having a custom fairing manufactured (among other things, this would give alternate mounting points for mirrors and instrument cluster which are afterthoughts in the original design as far as I'm concerned).

Sans those ergonomics...there is nothing I can complain about...the bike is "fast enough," I know some folks believe that's never a true statement but for me...I've been to 150+ and that was plenty...it may not have the acceleration of a crotch rocket, but if you go too fast, the stock seat doesn't provide enough support in the rear to keep you on the bike (I literally almost slid off the bike a few times).

One of the things I like about the bike that receives a little bit of hate about is the rake angle. I suppose a steeper angle would provide me with more maneuverability, but the long wheelbase has provided me with nothing but stability on my morning commute (30+ miles each way daily)...it is generally a comfortable ride...though a fairing would be nice on windy, rainy days.

I could say more, but you get the idea...you can only buy this bike used anymore, and that's all the better I guess...probably more incentive for me to keep it. Read Full Review

This bike rides and handles great. It is a little heavy, but its a Harley. This is my first Harley and I love it. I am coming off of sport bikes and this is a great transition. The seat is a little uncomfortable after a couple of hours but just add some gel and all is fine. If using for longer trips... then some aftermarket highway pegs are a must. Read Full Review

Turn heads, Super Cruiser.

I bought this bike 1 year ago and it's super fun. People drools over this bike, park it next to any other bike and it will make them dissapear. Best bike I have ever owned. Super powerfull and fast.
