More Bang Less Bucks
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 10, 2010That's why the Mothership pulled this line in '09. Bottom line on this bike is lower than the company desires because there are so many items already chromed, a proper amount of required guages, etc., and so their after market sales are low in comparison to the basic Dyna Super Glide. When you start ... having a bad case of chrome-envy at the local Friday Night Burger hang out, it'll really start costing you and the company makes alot more bucks when sold by the piece cause everythings $50. and up...steeply UP. Now I'll quit the rant and do the review.
I've had a few Harleys over the past 20 years. The first one was a FXR basically the predecessor to the new one but really not even close in the "out of the box" performance, handling, safety and quality, not to mention reliability categories, although I have only covered 4000 miles and if my aircraft mechanic instincts are correct this is one long range reliable road warrior. I've owned: FXR, 1200 Sporty C Springer Softail, Dyna Super Glide, Ultra Classic Electra Gide and without exception this bike wins out and I haven't added cams or even exhaust mods as I did on the other bikes. Also, have you checked prices for these bikes? They've come down and so the value is there in this market. or, you can buy a Dresser with Cruise Control and spend double the money. No, for the price of some saddle bags and a removable windshield this is the best investment in the Harley line and the classic old school look will NEVER lose it's appeal. The Low Rider is OLD SCHOOL NEW TECH.

2009 orange and black lowrider
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 28, 2010I traded in my 2008 Street Glide for a 2009 Low Rider a couple of days ago. Really liking the dyna though I need forward controls.
My theory on why the Low Rider was discontinued: it isn't. Gone today, here tomorrow, just like the Wide Glide. It will be reintroduced for 2011 ... or 2012 with a few cosmetic changes and maybe an optional flame paint job. Hopefully Brembo brakes too.

why did HD stop making them?
By (I am an Enthusiast) on Jan 02, 2010I started looking for a new bike about 6 months ago (haven't owned 1 for 20 years) and decided I wanted a low rider, but HD has quit making them for 2010.
If they're so great why are they discontinued?

2009 HD Dyna Low Rider
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 04, 2009Black Pearl, forward controls, V&H Radial pipe, Stage one performance kit, plus several other extra's, just hair over 17,000 out the door ... This is my first H/D road bike & all I can say what a blast to ride, and the handling is wonderful!
Have a little over 1,300 miles on the bike ... now, with my longest day ride of 310 miles. Bike handles so well, with great comfort, all this with a 59 year old man behind the handlebars ... Can't think of any negative issues & would rate this bike the "PERFECT 10" in cruiser type bikes!

The low rider is the best ever
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 16, 2009I got my low rider 6 months ago and i have loved it from the first mile. It handles better than my old 2003 FXD and just feels perfect. It is my 3rd harley and the most comfortable. I can ride it all day and feel great. Its everything the old FXD should have been, flashy, comfortable and a pleasure ... to ride. It doesn't bottom out as easily as the FXD even with the lower ground clearance and its easier to plant my feet on the ground as i'm only 5'7" tall. The best accessory i added was the forward controls. They suit the bike to a t. What can i say, its a fantastic bike.

What a ride
By (I am an Owner) on May 17, 2009I just traded my 2009 Harley Sportster 1200 low (yup, you read right) for my 2009 Dyna. I had just 200 miles on it. I havent riden in about 17 years and I thought getting the Sportster was the way to go being my last bike was a 750 Kawasaki LTD style. I loved my Sporty, dont get me wrong, handeled ... great, had tons of power..but I felt that I needed something with a little more heft to it. Dont know why I didnt look at the Dyna's in the first place. I sat on it and it felt just right. At first I thought my husband was going to ask for a divorce lol. Because of Harleys buy back program on the Sportsters it made it attainable. It was the only way I could do it and I am so glad I did. I have had my Dyna for 3 weeks now, I have put on a windshield, forward controls and they make a world of difference in the comfort on the ride. I do every now and then have trouble with the kick stand but am getting better finding it lol and the turn signal controls I sometimes have trouble reaching (smaller hands) but all in all I am so very happy with my Black Dyna, Thanks Harley, and hubby.

LOVE IT
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 25, 2009My first bike was a 2007 HD SPORTSTER 883 LOW....Really fast around town but sort of light on the freeway. I rented a 2008 HD dyna lowrider to see how it felt... after riding it around town and on freeway for about 4 hours... felt really great! So I shopped for a new 2009 HD DYNA LOW RIDER and ... got me a pearl black w/lotsa chrome!
got it in November and have abouat 1500 miles on it. Love it! Rides like a limo but not heavy... lotsa nice comments too.

2009 Dyna Low Rider
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 14, 2008I had this bike for 2 months now and have rode about 1300 miles. This is an awesome bike. It handles very well at highway speeds and also around town. It is very easy to maneuver at slow speeds compared to my previous bike, a 2008 Sportster 883L. Most of my riding is 2 up and the bike has plenty ... of power to handle that. I have received lots of compliments on the looks of the bike. Lots of chrome comes stock. The stock seat is comfortable for the short rides I have taken, less that 200 miles. I haven't been on a long ride as of yet so will have to post on that later. I couldn't be happier with this bike. The stock pipes are ok but I do have plans on upgrading them to get more of a "Harley" sound. The bike is perfect for my height ( 5'4")and it does not feel "heavy". Very well balanced. Overall if you are looking for a cruiser that handles well and looks great...this is the bike for you.
