Hard to give up
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 10, 2018As a female who rides. I LOVE my fat Bob.. My only complaint is already a common issue. The bike is notoriously top heavy. It makes the bike seem unbalanced to a fault. I bought the bike with beach bars, but ended up switching out to drag bars. I seriously love my bike. Only issues I've ever had ... were during 30 mph winds. Riding through Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the " pizza pan" rim made the bike almost impossible to control under the circumstances. Could be that I didn't have enough upper body strength, but basically every other bike I've sat on is better balanced. I'm looking into getting a Road Glide, because of the amount of riding I do I need the fairings and bags. I did have issues with my battery, but once I switched it to a high torque, that issue disappeared.

Harley Fatbob 2009
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 20, 2015I own several bikes BMW, Suzuki,Yamaha's.
I am 60+ years old and have decided to buy a Harley, why not,so I read up plenty about all Harley models and have ridden about six different models. I settled on the Fatbob because I needed a bike that handled well, owning a BMW 1200GS which is an ... excellent handling bike I needed to go around corners well. Talking with the dealer he suggested a Fatbob as most sportbike riders choose this bike. I took a Fatbob for a test ride, then a Dyna wide glide. The Fatbob handled a bit better, I liked the better use of chrome, less than the wideglide, but enough to look mean. So i bought the Fatbob, I find it a great bike to ride, It makes me feel good, it puts a smile on my face everytime I open the throttle and hear those Vance & Hine Big Shots roar, also on down changing the burble and rumble is music to my ears.It turns heads like no other bike I have ridden. It handles well, far better than I expected, It has limited ground clearance on corners when compared to the BMW, but I have realised that you just have to ride it within its limits. Acceleration is good,a large torguey motor propels you off at the lights very quickly and easily, and passing is a breeze on the highway.
Gear changes are very precise and as good as my GSXR, thats saying something.Brakes are very good, not BMW like, but still this bike is 100kg heavier, 306kg dry. Seat is very comfortable, found the forward controls took a wee bit of getting used to, as I have for riding the bike in general it is easy to ride but a little different thats all.
Quality is excellent, chrome on mine is off good quality as is the paintwork. My bike has a fair bit of bling added by the previous owner, pipes, controls , handle bars, grips, mirrors to name a few and it looks the bees knees. I did miss the rev counter to start with but have got used to doing without it I use 5th gear most of the time, except on long straight roads,6th gear is almost an overdrive, and is only of use over about 65mph.Throttle and Clutch work well, I would have liked a gear selection indicator but it only lights up when you are in 6th gear? why not have all gear shown.
Fuel consumption appears reasonable, very good on the highway, but if you like the sound of your exhaust note you use quite a bit more around town. I have done a mileage check but it doesnt seem excessive.
If was to ride say 300miles on twisting roads I would take the beemer but the BMW does not have the soul that this bike has, it really does make me feel good , and thats good enough for me. I only have eyes for the Harley in my garage, but it good to have the comparison, love the others too, true:)

Fat Bob
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 04, 2012I use my 09 Fat Bob for daily commuting of 104 miles round trip year round, %95 percent highway. I usually run between 65 and 70 mph, and average about 46 MPG.
I bought this bike used from Harley with 4500 miles on it and do most maintenance.
Problems:
Front ... end noise took to Harley and tightened up head bolt, slight improvement, still noisy. Known issue, live with it.
Leaking front master cylinder gasket, $75 covered under warranty. You could not buy just the gasket.
Uneven front/rear tire wear patterns, very loud roaring noise. Had high low spots on tire lugs. Harley said improper tire inflation which I know not to have happened. The problem deals with the contact patch of the tire when it hits the pavement. When you brake, the first park of the lug to hit the pavement wears more than the trailing. The Dunlop D427 which you can only purchase through Harley are the problem, buy yourself some Elite 3.
At around 17,000 front brakes when under 20 mph and stopping would oscillate up and down and this was becoming a very serious safety problem. Cleaned the dual from brakes with brake cleaner, tried starting fluid, small improvement. I then took 150 grit sandpaper and scuffed the rotors, problem solved.
Now for the worst problem. The bracket supporting the rear mount of the muffler, 2 of the 3 studs broke off. The holes have been partly wallowed because of the vibration of the engine. This then caused the front pipe stud to break off. What a mess.

2009 Harley Davidson Fat Bob
By (I am an Owner) on May 15, 2011Had not ridden a motorcycle for nearly 25 years and decided to get back in it. Never rode a Harley and when I tried some the Fat Bob simply fit like a glove. Riding position, the power, feel and superb handling especially at low speed made this my number 1 choice. Love the vibration which truly ... makes it Harley-Davidson

Dreams come true
By (I am an Owner) on May 16, 2010Immediately when I saw the Fat Bob in flesh in november 2007 I decided I had to have one! After 3 different test rides I bought my current black denim Fat Bob and every ride is simply great pleasure. The dual brake disc in the front & 6-speed gear box & the dual headlight & the great overall unique ... design makes the Fat Bob a winner! The only thing I have changed is Vance and Hines big shots staggered, air intake modification and HD-supertuner & integrated tachometer. The sound is awesome, plenty of power and torque and every ride gives me a really big smile.

Long time comin
By (I am an Owner) on Feb 26, 2010I own a 2009 Fat Bob. This is my first Harley after starting out on sportbikes and ending up on a 1985 V-max. Don't get me wrong, I loved my V-max but this Fat Bob is the bomb. This bike handles very similar to my V-max and has a ton of torque. I replaced the stock pipes with Vance and Hines flat ... black turn downs and the stock breather with an aftermarket one that gives this already impressive bike an even meaner look. Kudos HD for turning a hardcore Harley hater into a loyal fan.

Simply AWESOME!!!
By (I am an Owner) on Dec 11, 2009I've been owning and riding bikes for 25 years. I've owned an 09 FXDF for almost a year now and I've ridden 4,000+ miles on it. I'm happy to say this is the BEST bike I've ever ridden or owned in my entire life. It is the perfect combination of power, comfort, nimble handling, gorgeous styling, ... and bulletproof reliability. I replaced the stock exhaust with a Vance and Hines 2 into 2 full exhaust and a HD stage 1 kit, which is a must. Mine has forward controls. Do yourself a huge favor and go buy a FXDF or at least go rent or test drive one. You will be very impressed.

2009 Harley Dyna Fat Bob
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 02, 2009Just bought my Fat Bob Memeorial weekend. I love this bike. Its strong in looks and performance. Added some accessories to keep with its already bad ass look. Next will be the exhaust system, need to be a little louder. I have been on about 8-10 different bikes all brands. This is the best ride of ... all of them. Her name is Nadine.

Great Bike
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 16, 2009I traded up from my 08 Sportster Roadster and I am very, very happy. The bike is the best handling HD I have ridden. Put on decent sounding mufflers, set of HD bags and a windshield and you are set!

Great Ride!!
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 03, 2009I had jumped ship and traded my Suzuki GSXR in for a 09' Fat Bob. And after riding it in just over 500 miles, I thought to myself, why haven't I purchased a Harley in the first place.
My first impression.......tough looking bike. I never got the chance to hear the sound of the stock ... pipes cause I had the dealership install the V & H Big Radius right off the bat, along with the stage 1 down load. Sounds good and it handles well on sharp turns. It has plenty of stopping power with the front disk brakes and and overall, it just rides comfortably. I am very satisfied with this bike!!

What a bike
By (I am an Owner) on May 26, 2009After years of rideing a big tourer. I rode a fat bob at a ride what you want to at a harley dealer. Wow what a bike. It was like I was a kid again on that 68 sportster. Only this time with tork and handeling like you would not believe. I ride the mountains of east Tennessee. You would not believe ... the way the Fat Bob takes the back roads. If you still have a little fire in your bellie. You owe it to yourself to ride one of these bikes.

fat bob
By (I am an Owner) on May 15, 2009this is got to be the best bike i have ever owned. compared to other bikes, its balance and comfort surpass anything on the road. compared to other harleys, cornering and mobility are the best. i have done some work on my bike, mainly a stage one kit with new pipes and air filter, but my only goal ... was noise, there is plenty of power when you drive it off the floor. its in a league of its own.

This Fat Bob is enjoying his Fat Bob
By (I am an Owner) on May 11, 2009I've had my FatBob since November, and
I rode through the winter when the roads permitted. I'll be 62 years old in a couple of weeks, and this is my first bike. I'm sorry that I missed doing this years ago, but I thank God that Harley made the FatBob for me to realize that I may have missed ... riding in my younger days, but believe me, on this new machine, I enjoy every mile the wheels turn. I did change out the exhaust to Vance & Hines, now I turn heads, and they hear me coming. As the old saying goes, "nobody does it better"!!

Nice Bike- Really!
By (I am an Enthusiast) on May 07, 2009This is my 3rd Harley and I also have BMWs, Kawasakis, Yamahas, and some old british iron. The Fat Bob is by far my favorite! Harley is getting competitive with handling and performance. The FB eats the twisties better than most cruisers, awsome acceleration, 6th gear is a blessing from heaven. Has ... typical harley vibration at idle but is smooth at speed. Very quiet. Put on a set of rhineharts, SE mass air flow, and a power commander...EARTH SHATTERING! Super comfortable ride- better than my softail. Does not cut wind well due to low profile front but still have a sloppy grin running 100+ down the highway.
