Cool Bike For Cruising
By (I am an Owner) on Nov 06, 2011This is probably the best cruiser on the road. I haven't noticed the heat problem other claim. Maybe it's because I just a "cool" cruiser! I like the handling, ride, and comfort. Forward controls helped at 6'2" and 300 lbs. Power is there to keep me out of traffic and negotiate hills. Purchased ... on 30 Jun 08 and now have 18K miles and counting. Again the only heating up on my bike are the ladies! And the road. It is worth every $$,$$$.00 because it is HD.

Stop complaining
By (I am an Owner) on Jun 10, 2011I do not know why all of you are crying about things you don't like about this bike. Research before you buy. I do not know why you would buy a Harley and keep it stock either. Most who buy a Harley do not keep it stock that is the point. Customize it to your likes. If you want a cookie cutter bike ... that you will keep stock, buy something else.
I have this bike and it is now a total custom, and looks nothing like the stock version. It has been lowered, custom exhaust, custom front forks with a 16 inch tire instead of the ugly skinny front tire. Custom linkage and forward controls, custom paint, custom drag bars made using 2 Craftsman 3/4 wrenches welded to a length of 3/4 hex bar then into 3/4 round bar all finished in chrome. Custom horn cover, custom luggage rack. It is now unique and mine, not a cookie cut harley.

Overall good bike
By (I am an Owner) on Mar 14, 2010I had owned two sportsters prior to my purchase of the 2008 Softail Custom. I purchased teh bike in Okinawa Japan while stationed there in the Marine Corps. I have know put two-thousand miles on my bike and wish that I would have never owned a sportster. The ecceleration was the foremost for me. ... I weigh about 250 pounds and the sporster just didnt have it all there, but the 96 cubic inch lets me know it still has control. Its not a heavy bike which allows me the oppurtunity to still lean into a sport turn and the tyle of the bike cathces eyes. I am 6'3" and wish it still had a little more leg room though. You can still purchase aftermarket kits to to do that but with the other $18,000.00 went into the purchase price and as we know there are thousands of stock pipes laying around or in the junk yard so money has to be spent elswhere first. Overall I would rate this a 9 out of 10.. P.S. Tried to uplaod phots but it would not let me.

Bike you do not want to RIDE!!!
By (I am an Owner) on Jul 26, 2009I always loved the Softail and I have had Harleys before and have a Sportster as well. So, I just recently bought a 2008 Softail. I put $3000.00 in modifications to my taste and got struck with a HOT, HOT, HOT, bike that I want to ride home and park. Looks GREAT and rides GREAT but I want to jump ... off the bike because it is so hot. Unbelieviable, that Harley does not inform their protential buyers better. Now I will have to spend more money to try to correct this problem. We know Harley is already overprice and are willing to pay the price, but this is rediculious and the sound SUCKS!!! Do I have a Harley or a Honda??? I am going to have to spend thousands more to make it sound like a real Harley. Very, very disappointed and irrate with the amount of money I am spending.

Harley Davidson Sold Out To Kalifornia
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 19, 2008Love the bike, I only wish I had more information about the fuel injection before I bought it. To bad it takes two grand to get it to sound like a Harley. I am not into loud pipes but I don't want it to sound like a goldwing either. Harley knows about the high heat problem yet still has not done ... anything to fix it and the owner is stuck with the after market bill to correct it.

Best Bike I Ever Owned...
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 14, 2008I bought a Pacific Blue/Black 08 fxstc and it's awesome. Ran great right out of the box! Its fit, finish and function are way better than the Sportie I had in college. I have since install Rush 2" slip ons, a K&N cleaner and a Fuel Pak. Again all worked great right from the start! Runs like ... a bat out of hell!!! Good bottom end and unholy top end!!! Only problem is I can't get fuel at Wal-Mart without drawing a crowd, and girls keep asking me out...crazy but true! It has to be the bike because this doesn't happen when I'm in the F-150. This bike rocks! 1/2 men beware you should probably keep your Honda!

2007 FXSTC and 2009 FXSTSSE2
By (I am an Owner) on Sep 07, 2008Both bikes were very costly to purchase. At the price I expected the bikes to be ready to "cruise"-- NOT SO --Both bikes ran exceptionally HOT which limited their use to highway riding, that is,unless I wanted to FRY my lower extremities !!
H.D. knows about this problem and has no ... real cure for it. They merely state that the new motors are made to run warm due to E.P.A. mandates. H.D.sold me an oil cooler that somewhat helped the problem. When I finally invested in an aftermarket oil cooler both bikes did cool down to normal temps. Only $1000.00 later and I could ride these overpriced legends (outdated
machines designed only to get my,and your money).
If you want to make a fashion statement--go ahead and buy a H.D.,however if you want to enjoy riding --do your homework and find another brand of cycle.
