One of the best rides at 10000 feet!
By (I am an Owner) on Apr 11, 2012I purchased my Genuine R50 a couple of weeks ago and have been thrilled with it ever since. The most important aspect of the scooter was not getting stuck at green lights going 5 MPH. Previous experience on cheap Chinese mopeds had left a dirty taste in my mouth so I decided to take the plunge ... with the RoughHouse. The first test drive at my local dealer Sportique Scooters gave an excellent drive around town compared to the other 50cc scooter choices and the 2 year warranty didn't hurt either. The other bikes had similar features and options except one that really caught my eye. The rough houses' off road knobby tires were just what I was looking for. After a week of breaking it in on the streets (500 miles) I decided to take it up one of Colorado Springs local mountain dirt roads (Rampart Range) to Woodland Park. The ride up the mountains was truly incredible, the power that the R50 produced was quite surprising since even the dealer thought it would need some jetting and better air intake. But I had no problem reaching 30 MPH going uphill on washboard dirt roads (taking the corners a little more carefully) and feeling very much in control. One of the things I really like was cornering like your riding a motorcycle, if you put your feet on the passenger foot rests you get a lot more balance when you lean into the corners. All in all, when a guy like me (6'2" and 210 lbs) can call a scooter comfortable, they did something right!
