The Ducati Experience
By (I am an Owner) on May 24, 2012This is my first foray into Ducati sportbikes. After 17 years on a sportbike from most major companies, I had become very bored with the cookie cutter style and typical power output.
I finally reached my goal of owning something exotic and unique. This is the first motorcycle I ... have ever owned that has a legitimate soul. The sound alone makes the moderate price tag worth it. The styling is amazing, the power is torque heavy and low, and the presitge is all Ducati.
The downsides are the ergos and heat. I'm 6'1" and the clip-ons are murder on the wrists. I know that over time, I'll become more accustomed to the feel, but it's a long road to get comfortable. The heat coming from under the seat is pretty intense as well on your legs and rear.
Overall, if my biggest complaints are this minor, you can bet that the upsides heavily counteract the downsides. This machine is a dream to own. Aside from the L-twin performance, razor sharp front end, and Italian styling, I walked into a whole new level of ownership and enthusiasm for sportbikes. If you are tired of the same old schlock coming from the big four that Japan has to offer, it may be time to consider the 848 Evo. It made a world of difference to me.
