By  (I am an Owner) on Jan 26, 2011

Just wrote off my 09 1000 blade, and wanted to calm down a bit.

For just more than half the replacement price ,purchased a very clean 06 R1200ST(because it looked more sport than pure tourer) with 30thou on the clock just to personally experience all the good things they say about these sport ...

Had it for two weeks and completed a 3600km tour from Joburg to the Cape and back --in THREE days !

Without having to compare it with many other bikes I own and have owned, all I can say is ---"I love it" !

Its fun , friendly , fuel efficient,

fast enough , become beautiful (cylinders and all) and is here to stay.

Suffice to say all but two of the about 20 bikes I saw along the way were beemers.

Enough said when it comes to long trips , reliability and safety.

They say the GS is even better but I will have to first get over its agricultural ugliness.
