Perfect fit
By (I am an Owner) on Oct 12, 2013This is truly the bike I've been looking for for many years! Being a shorty and loving enduro bikes is a tough combo, but not here. After a mere 800 km I feel more at home, more secure and more relaxed than I've ever before experienced on any bike I've owned ( this is the fifth in 15 years). The ... feedback from this bike is really good enabling me to corner faster than I could on my previous Nippon-made road-blaster. And this is an enduro, and not a road blaster. The engine pulls fantastically, with a broad, hefty surplus of power. The best thing though, is the handling. This bike puts a BIG smile on my face, no matter the weather conditions. It seems really sure-footed, conveying loads of confidence on any type of road.
I'm never in a hurry to stop for break. This truly is the long-distance hauler I've been looking for. And also great for cummuting and city-fun.

the bike I've always wanted
By (I am an Enthusiast) on May 02, 2013Like many of us, I could sing the praises of my new bike all day, but to be more specific, this is the bike I have always wanted. I just had to ride for 18 years before they made it!
I liked my VStrom; it's a great bike. Anyone will tell you that. But the older I got, the heaver and taller ... it got. One ride on the BMW and I have to say, all bets are off. The GS is lighter, the center of gravity is lower and can be ordered lower still (which with a 29" inseam, I had to do) and it is just a beautiful handling bike. It is so well balanced, in fact, it practically stays upright on its own, if I could manage to stay that balanced myself. It is incredibly easy to ride, yet tons of fun and never dull. It has plenty of pep and is remarkably stable for such a light bike, and handles well even in the wind. And of course, I love the styling.
Just so you know I am not ignoring its' niggles, the engine IS buzzy, but it seems to smooth out the more it is ridden. The seat is horrible, but I can say that about the stock seats on most every bike I have purchased. The stock windscreen is useless, but easily replaced. I do wish I could use regular fuel but nothing is perfect, and I understand you can "remap" the engine to accept regular, but your fuel mileage may suffer. That's it. I finally got the bike of my dreams without having known it ahead of time.
