BMW GS 800. bought one.my 21st motorbike.had cr500s, xl 500s,xr 650rs. this bike is like a superbike on the road. nicely put together.german engineering.powerhouse.a good mix of road and trail.highly recommended. very impressed. the more you ride the more you like.get one. BMW F 800 GS

I have owned one of these and the very identical 650 since mid Aug of 08. I am 6-1 and in the 190lb range. These bikes, for the money is some what lame. No ajustable forks? pipes hang too low (for serious off road), I dented the pipes on the 650 already. None ajustable rear brake pedal. There are a ...few things more i could warm people of, but I wont waste all this space. Bottom line is, for the money, it should be more or a better motorcycle. Good items are, the 650 in comfortable, the 800 however is not, not for me. The 650 is even more of a road bike. Both however could be more off road friendly. They are both smooth running bikes. How relyable there are is yet to be seen. Many bolt on items are out there, at a hefty price of course. In my opinoin, with a 10 being great, i`d give the 650 a 7 for the road and a 3 for off road. I would rate the 800 in the 5 range on road and for off raod it gets a 7. Read Full Review

Great Adventure Bike

While it's a bit large for gnarly single track, it's quite capable off road and yet can still tick off miles on the pavement quite well.

BMW F800GS is Great!

I needed a bike that's not as heavy and expensive as the 1200GS, but can handle long commutes, heavy traffic, breakfast runs, gravel roads, playing etc.



With long service intervals (10 000km) and services that are a third cheaper than a KTM 990, it suits me perfectly as a 'second car'.



I added... a full Remus system to get some extra oomph and loving it! The seat's a bit hard, but I ordered a butt-buffer to sort that out. Read Full Review

I bought mine nearly new and have only done 2000kms, mostly dirt road and track. love it but for the crap seat. i am 6.1' and i would need to put bar risers to ride standing which is annoying in some situations. Those would be my omly complaints. The bikes torque and smoothness is amazing for trail... riding. I cant see me punishing it on a serious single trail at speed, its got too much weight, but if you are cruising the bumps and the steep climbs its great. Its totally unnesssesary to rev the guts out of it, i just use the torque on the gravel and the climbs and its awsome.I find myself changing gear earlier and earlier, it just pull well from as low as 2000 revs. Its obvious there are more serious bikes out there but ultimately they cost a lot more to maintain, exotic tastes come at high prices, wether it be car/woman/food or bike. I love mine, its an awsome all rounder.. if you are tall, pay the money to either order with an ergo seat or get one made, its not expensive, the screen on long road trips is a bit small but you would have to go a lot bigger than the standard to get the wind "over" your head. for trail and dirt its perfect. Hepco and becker panniers a much better deal than original and the black plastic even looks good :)I love the 1200 but for tracks and gravel this thing rocks.. and the front wheel size advantage over the 1200 more than sold it for me as did the great fuel economy... its basically a BMW trail bike.. it goes well, it sound good, it handles well.. you want basic slow and reliable, buy a yamaha, you want speed and high maintenance buy a 990 adventure,( although i know this thing would eat the yamaha and keep up with the ktm) you want to do single trail, buy a 400 or 250 enduro... for what its made for this bike is good news Read Full Review
