I Love this bike. It is a little heavy, and sits a little high, but the height is adjustable. all my friends who own bikes are amazed by what it can do, and how well it handles. most people will say only buy this bike if you want it for speed... i disagree. 85% of the time i baby it and it does well ...

Insurance.. when you get a quote for this bike from your insurance company.. be prepared to have a heart attack due to the number they throw at you.. It is Classified in my area of (STL) as a "Superbike"

the bikes engine has three different modes. (B-"baby Mode")which i used for the first two hours of riding the bike to get use to it. it restricts the power..mostly for poor weather conditions. (STD "standard drive mode") And then there is (A) which i consider to be Sport mode. Sport mode on a Sport bike? its crazy.. use A if you are racing, or on the highway passing or trying to get away from a crazy driver.

    great bike to own.

    Be Safe.

This is the first real liter bike i have purchased in years.

The handling is fantastic. I feel as if Yamaha has built a bike for US taller riders. I'm 6ft.tall. Taking a corner is a thrill.

Fuel mileage is good at an avg. of 35 to 40 mpg.

    Had to upgrade ...

The 2011 Yamaha R1 is so much fun to ride that i haven't taken my other motorcycles out on the road for months.

I live in Florida. we have 365 riding days.

  • Looks good, sounds even better ....

    OTD: $11k .

Bit on the heavy side, but that just means it's not a kite on a windy highway.

If you have the thirst for speed, this bikes for you. But be warned , this bike has a thirst for fuel. Average mpg in NYC is 23 mpg.

I think it gas something to do with the crossplane ...

That comes in handy when your pulling out of a turn, the engine snaps to life.

    It also sounds amazing.

The dual undertail exhaust is very hot in the summer and after market exhausts are much more costly.

Pros: the stock exhaust is titanium and I see no reason to change it. Also keeps you warm on cool days. And u don't have to worry about scraping your exhaust while u take a sharp turn.

The finish is of the highest quality.

    Looks very modern..

The Yamaha R1 may not be the most powerful, lightest, nimble liter bike on the market.

But after lots of personal research , it seemed the most practical purchase for me.

    Built to last! Loving it!

One problem.... She wakes the neighbors !
