A perfect bike for a someone who doesn't need to show off.
By (I am an Owner) on Jan 10, 2012Being a Harley owner was the last thing I expected. After taking my 3 day Illinois motorcycle safety class about 6 years ago, I went out and purchased the same bike I used in the class, a small Honday 250 Rebel. Since I only road in the country, maybe once a week, 50 miles at a time, it really gave ... me lots of enjoyment. 4 years later I had to sell it due to a temporary work layoff, and regretted ever since. I practically gave it away. Two years have passed and I had the opportunity to get financing through a local Harley dealer and wanted something simple and small. The best the could offer was the Iron 883. I thought it would be too much bike, even for this 56 year old father of 3 and grandfather of 10. But I have to say, this is a very nice ride and a very simple motorcycle to operate. All you have to do is concentrate on enjoying the ride. I love it. I still will mostly ride on weekends, in the country and hardly ever more than 50 miles a trip, (so it is far more bike than I really need), but far more bike than I imagined too. I like that it surprisingly isn't too loud,(one of the biggest draw backs to most Harley's, in my mind). I don't need to prove anything or show off, or dress like every other Harley rider. What ever happened to individuality. Most Harley riders have lost that whole way of thinking. I just want the quiet, alone time, riding my new motorcycle again, and I certainly found a great new friend in my 2012 Harley Davidson XL883N Iron. I highly recommend it.
