Yamahas Hill wins in Minneapolis

Suzukis Dungey second in home town Supercross race
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Mar. 17, 2008
Team Yamahas Josh Hill won his first Supercross race on Saturday, March 15 in Minneapolis, Minn.

Hill powered his Yamaha YZ450F past Suzukis Ryan Dungey on the third lap to take the lead and held on to it for the rest of the race.

Hills previous career best was a second-place finish in Indianapolis on March 1.

Getting second was amazing a few races ago, says Hill. I do not know how to put it into words this win. The season has had its ups and downs, but this is huge for me. Yamaha put faith in me, and I am grateful for that.

Dungey, racing in front of a home crowd, finished in second. It was his best finish since moving up from the Supercross Lites class.

I ripped out of the gate tonight and had a good lead, says Dungey. The crowd was behind me 100%, and I could hear them on every lap.

Series leader Chad Reed was in second place and challenging Hill for the lead when he crashed during lap eight. He finished in seventh place. This allowed Hondas Kevin Windham to finished in third, cutting Reeds lead in the overall standings to 237-220.

The next AMA Supercross race is March 29 in Toronto, Ont.
