Yamaha racers help fight Rett Syndrome
Factory Superbike racers Josh Hayes and Ben Bostrom, and Graves Yamaha Sportbike racers Josh Herrin and Tommy Aquino are scheduled to appear at the Lighthouse Café in Hermosa Beach, Calif. on Aug. 26 from 4-7 p.m. PST. They will be signing autographs and donating items for a silent auction with the proceeds going to research towards a cure for Rett Syndrome.
The illness is a neurological disorder that primarily affects women. It causes significant developmental delays that can affect speech, hand skills and coordination. Classified as an autism spectrum disorder, Rett Syndrome often strikes just after learning to walk or speak. Women with Rett Syndrome often survive to adulthood but need 24-hour-a-day care. Currently, there is no cure for Rett Syndrome.
The charity event is organized by Carrie Aquino (Tommy Aquinos mother) and Amy Abernathy. Items up for auction include Shoei helmets, Cortech jacket and gloves, TCX boots, autographs from the Yamaha racers and bodywork from their race bikes. The Graves Yamaha R6 race bikes will also be on display.
