The Japanese manufacturer announced the decision at a meeting of the series’ partner manufacturers Nov. 4 in Toronto, Canada. BMW, Kawasaki, Honda and Suzuki are the other manufacturers taking part in the Parts Canada Superbike Championship.

The decision comes a week after Yamaha Motor Corp. USA decided to outsource its AMA Road Racing, Motocross and Supercross programs.

“We are sorry to have Yamaha leave us,” says Colin Fraser of series organizer Professional Motorsports Productions (PMP). “They have been a valued manufacturer partner from day one and have a long history of success in our sport.”

PMP credits Yamaha for playing a key role in the restructuring and growth of the series in the mid-1990s.

Yamaha riders have won six Canadian Superbike titles: Miles Baldwin (1982), Art Robbins (1985), Steve Crevier (1989), Michel Mercier (1990) Pascal Picotte (2003, 2004).
