Yamaha Increases Earthquake Aid

Production remains suspended

Yamaha Motor Co. has increased its contribution to the recovery efforts in earthquake-stricken Japan.

In addition to its initial contributions, Yamaha is donating another 1,585 gallons of bottled water, 170 blankets and 5,400 portable toilets.

Yamaha is also dispatching 139 PAS electric power assisted bicycles for emergency responders. The PAS bicycles will allow workers to reach areas where roads are blocked off while conserving gasoline supplies.

Earlier in the week, Yamaha contributed 500 power generators, 1,585 gallons of water, 5,000 meals and 300,000 surgical masks.

Yamahas production plants will remain closed until at least March 23, including its five motorcycle factories. Yamaha will announce provide an update on future operating plans by March 23.
