Troy Lee Designs is producing a new limited edition motocross helmet in tribute of Hollywood legend Steve McQueen.

The first product under a three-year licensing agreement with McQueens estate, the helmet will be worn by the Troy Lee Designs- sponsored race team of Wil Hahn and Cole Seely at the AMA Supercross season opener, Jan. 9 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.

The star of such films as The Great Escape, The Getaway and Bullitt, McQueen also appeared in and helped financed the Academy Award-nominated documentary On Any Sunday. McQueen was an avid motorcycle racer, competing in the Baja 1000 and representing the United States in the 1964 International Six Day Trial. The Motorcycle Hall of Fame inducted McQueen in 1999.

Troy Lee Designs will produce 700 units of the Steve McQueen helmet.

I have looked up to Steve McQueen my entire life, says Troy Lee. I have always held great respect for him and everything he represented. I am truly excited to forge this relationship and look forward to designing a collection that represents Steves timeless style and personality.

Troy Lee Designs will produce 700 units, each retailing for $525, beginning in June.

My dad was an avid motorcyclist and huge supporter of the sport, says Chad McQueen, the actors son. Its great to see his love for motorcycling live on through new limited edition helmets.
