June 2008 sales up 17% from last year

By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Aug. 01, 2008
Triumph Motorcycles America recorded its best retail sales month in June with 1,536 units sold, despite a struggling economy.

The British company’s previous best month was May 2007 which saw 1,445 units leave American showrooms. June sales were up 17% from the same month in 2007.

Triumph’s sales were driven by the popular Street Triple and the Speed Triple. Other models such as the Thruxton and the Bonneville T100 were also popular with American consumers.

The sales record occurred a month before Triumph released its 2009 model line-up, and the company predicts its new models will contribute to further growth. The Street Triple proved to be a hit with American consumers in June.

“Consumer interest in Triumph’s products has never been stronger,” says Jim Callahan, marketing manager of Triumph Motorcycles (America) Ltd. “With the announcement of the Triumph Thunderbird and several new model updates at the recent Global Dealer Conference, we anticipate this growth trend to continue as the new model range will generate additional traffic throughout our dealership network.”
