Ducati and Toyota create concept truck
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Nov. 12, 2008
Ducati North America teamed up with Toyota to introduce a Tundra truck concept configured as a transporter for the Desmosedici RR.

The 2009 Tundra Ducati Desmosedici transporter was unveiled at the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) trade show, held Nov 4-7 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Toyota approached us for this project based on Ducatis world-championship racing record and our reputation for the best in technology and performance, says Michael Lock, chief executive officer of Ducati North America. It is a partnership that gives Ducati some visibility to an enthusiast crowd that we otherwise dont normally reach.

The sides of the Tunda Ducati Desmosedici open to reveal storage compartments.
Based on a Toyota Tundra CrewMax, the concept vehicle has an extended frame to accommodate a 6.5-foot bed. The sides of the truck bed flip open to reveal tool cabinets for storing track day gear. Small electric accessories can receive power from pop-up solar panels. The truck is also fitted with a Rampage motorized ramp to load and unload motorcycles.

Wearing Ducatis signature red paint finish with white stripes, the concept vehicle is a stylistic match to the Desmosedici RR. Fast Eds Interiors from Torrance, Calif. was commissioned to outfit the trucks cabin for a look that Ducati North America says combines high tech style with Italian flair.
