Beemer riders take over German town for Motorrad Days
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Jul. 07, 2008
Thousands of motorcyclists visited the Bavarian Alps for BMW Motorrad Days 2008 July 4-6 at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

The celebration drew an international crowd of Beemer fans to the market town in southern Germany near the Austrian border. Theyre still counting the numbers but last years Motorrad Days attracted more than 34,000 visitors to the town which has a population of only 26,000. Hosts BMW Motorrad provided several activities to cater to different riding tastes.

Motorcycle stunt fans were treated with a performance by Chris Pfeiffer. The 2008 Streetbike Freestyle World Champion pulled out several tricks from his vast arsenal, showing his talents on the G 450X, the HP2 Megamoto and the F 800 S.

Chris Pfeiffer demonstrated some of the skills that won him the 2008 Streetbike Freestyle World Championship.

World-class riders such as Joel Smets, Gerhard Forster and Andi Lettenbichler competed in exhibition races on the X-track before visitors got their turn to test the circuit and mimic the pros on G 650 Adventure bikes. Off-road enthusiasts also had a chance to ride on a specially constructed 2.5-acre Enduro Park.

At the BMW Motorrad cinema, adventure riders listened as explorer and photographer Michael Martin related tales from his 30-plus years of experience travelling the world. The cinema also screened motorcycle films such as GlobeBusters The Ride Alaska to Patagonia and Herbert Schwartzs End of the Rains about a tour around Lake Victoria in Africa on an F800 GS.
