Top Gear co-host James May’s new Triumph Daytona 675R was reportedly damaged in an attempted motorcycle theft.

According to British tabloid Daily Mail, the alleged thief broke the Triumph Daytona 675R’s ignition in an attempt to steal the three-cylinder sportbike in London. The Daily Mail reports the person stopped after a witness noticed the attempted theft and rode off on a different motorcycle.

May, who is nicknamed “Captain Slow” by Top Gear co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond for his careful driving style, had reportedly just picked up the Daytona 675R the day before the March 22 attempted theft.

An avid motorcyclist, May has owned a number of motorcycles over the years, with the new Triumph Daytona 675R the latest in his current collection which includes a Yamaha XJR1300, Moto Guzzi V11 Sport and a 1978 Moto Guzzi California.
