Suzuki reported a 13.7% drop in motorcycle sales revenue despite an increase in unit sales during the first quarter of 2010.

For the three-month period ending June 30, 2010, Suzuki reported 69.8 billion yen (US$818.7 million) in motorcycle and ATV sales, a drop from the 80.9 billion yen (US$948.9 million) reported for the same period in 2009.

Unit sales however were up 15.7% as Suzuki sold 822,000 units over the quarter, compared to 711,000 units in 2009.

North American motorcycle sales were down 37% as Suzuki opted not to import any new streetbike models in 2010. Suzuki sold 17,000 units over the quarter, down from 27,000 units over the same period in 2009. Sales were also down Europe and Japan, but the overall sales totals were buoyed by a 29% increase in sales in China.
