Supermoto USA comes to Laguna Seca

Race added to AMA Superbike finale
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Mar. 24, 2008
A Laguna Seca stop has been added to the Supermoto USA series for the American Motorcyclist Association Superbike finale weekend, September 27 to 28.

Im thrilled to be brining our series to the world-famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, says Brok McAllister, founder of Supermoto USA. The track will be constructed in the same general area as the last time we were here. We feel we can safely bring the spectators even closer to the racing action than before by lengthening the course and placing the jumps right in front of the fans.

The Supermoto USA course will be part dirt-track, but will also include a paved segment located between turns two and five on the famed Monterey, Calif. track. The second annual Supermoto USA Womens Only race will also be held at Laguna Seca that weekend.

The two races add to an already packed Superbike finale weekend which will also feature the AMA Superbike, Supersport, Formula Xtreme and Superstock series.

This is a great addition to our September event, says Gill Campbell, chief executive officer of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Supermoto and AMA Superbike on the same weekend will give fans a great opportunity to see different forms of motorcycle racing in one location.
