Silver anniversary of Love Ride

The worlds largest one-day fundraising motorcycle event turns 25

One of the many highlights of California Bike Week, the Love Ride will be celebrating its 25th anniversary at the end of this month.

Famous for its cast of celebrity appearances and grand marshals, such attendees have included Larry Hagman, Peter Fonda, Jay Leno and Willie G. Davidson himself. Musical guests donating their time to the event have included the likes of Jackson Browne, Aerosmith, Robby Krieger of The Doors, David Crosby, The Doobie Brothers and Bruce Springsteen. This year, the musical entertainment will be provided by ZZ Top and The Foo Fighters.

Founded by the owner of Harley-Davidson of Glendale, Oliver Shokouh, in 1984, the Love Ride was created to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association but now benefits numerous charities.

After relatively meager beginnings, the event now holds the status of being the worlds largest one-day fundraising motorcycling event with over 25,000 bikers expected to take part. The event is about having fun for a good cause and has raised over $21.3 million to date to the various charities it supports. Commencing on Sunday, Oct. 26, this years event is expected to be bigger than ever.
