Satellite BMW Team Enters WSBK Series
Satellite BMW team enters WSBK series
The newly-formed Reitwagen Motorsport team will enter the WSBK series with Austrian racer Roland Resch.
Roland will race the new BMW S1000RR next year with some know-how and assistance from BMW, but basically the team is developing the race bike from stock production bikes on its own, team spokesman Andreas Werth says on the official WSBK website. We have the budget for a full season and will start testing in Australia in late December. Reitwagen is the first BMW client in the Superbike World Championship and for us its a great opportunity.
The works (S1000RR) bike is a piece of art, says Resch, but I am almost more impressed by how close the stock bike is to good racing standards. The stock bike already pulls 202 hp with race exhaust and remapped electronics, so its a very interesting base for race developments.
The BMW S1000RR will also be racing in the World Superstock class in 2010. The BMW Motorrad Italia World Superstock team has yet to announce a rider.
