Royal Enfield plans for expansion

Production to nearly double by 2013

Royal Enfield Motors is preparing for expansion as demand for the resurrected brands product outpaces supply.

The India-based company announced plans to nearly double production over the next three years. According to Royal Enfield, its current production facility has been running at full capacity for over a year, with 52,000 units expected for 2010. Royal Enfield plans to produce 70,000 units in 2011 and 90,000 in 2012 before breaking the 100,000 mark in 2013.

The expansion plan includes a modern paint studio, die and tool upgrades, aesthetic and sheet metal refinements and new product development.

Royal Enfield has made a strong commitment to meeting international demand and responding to the needs and expectations its growing customer base. Consumer response to the new model line in the United States and elsewhere has been remarkably strong and its very encouraging to know that Royal Enfield will be ready as the market continues to grow, says Kevin Mahoney, president of Royal Enfield USA.
