Rossi to test Ferrari F1 car

MotoGP Champ to ride championship-winning F2008
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Nov. 13, 2008
Valentino Rossi will warm up for the MotoGP winter tests by climbing into the cockpit of a Ferrari Formula One car.

The 2008 MotoGP Champion will take part in a private test on Nov. 20-21 with the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team at one of his favorite tracks, the Mugello Circuit in Italy. Rossi has nine career Grand Prix victories at Mugello including every race since the inception of the MotoGP class in 2002.

Italian news agency ANSA reports that Rossi will be riding the F2008 car that won the 2008 Constructors title for Ferrari. Drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen piloted the F2008 to second and third in the Championship standings.

Fiat Yamaha's Valentino Rossi hops from championship-winning vehicle to another with a test session with Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro.
Rossi has tested for Ferrari before. Previously, Rossi made two appearances at Ferraris test track and another testing session at Mugello. Coming off of his previous MotoGP Championship in 2005, Rossi also took part in an official F1 test at Valencia Circuit in Spain in February 2006. At that session, Rossi recorded lap times just a little over half a second slower than Michael Schumacher.

Less than a week after the F1 test, Rossi will be back on two wheels at the official MotoGP tests in Jerez, Spain on Nov. 26-27.
