More than 150 riders participated in R2SL’s event July 3-6 at the Tooele, Utah track. For a minimum donation, they got the chance to ride on the world-class Miller Motorsports Park circuit, which hosted the World Superbike Championship series June 1.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the results, and are enormously grateful to the motorcycling community for its incredible generosity,” says Sharon Foxworthy, president of R2SL.
“Just six weeks ago we didn’t have a date or a track lined up. The entire Miller Motorsports Park organization, along with all our R2SL volunteers, stepped up and made this happen in an incredibly short time.”
The average donation was almost $300 per rider. As well, a silent auction of motorcycle memorabilia and accessories netted $4,300. After expenses, a total of $30,000 was raised to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundations of Utah and Colorado, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Larry H. Miller Charities.
The next R2SL event will be held at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Va., on Aug. 11-14. For information on how to participate or volunteer in R2SL events, visit http://www.racing2savelives.org/.
