Chad Reed earned his 34th career victory Saturday, moving into third place on the American Motorcyclist Association Supercross all-time career wins list.

The 25-year-old Australian led from the second lap for his eighth win of the season at Texas Stadium in Dallas on April 5, to widen his lead in the standings to 27 points over Kevin Windham.

I feel like Ive given a lot of wins away this year - four, to be exact - and were just trying to go out there and win this title, says Reed.

With 46,656 fans watching in the home of the Dallas Cowboys, Reed raced his YZ450F to a time of 17 minutes, 56.530 seconds for the win with Yamaha teammate Josh Hill close behind for second.

Hill survived a close call during the race when Hondas David Millsap landed on him after a jump.

The track was real slick, and I just spun off that double, and he was already committed, says Hill. I think I have a tire mark on my shoulder from it. I actually still jumped the rhythm section. It was kind of a hectic main event. I was making mistakes all over, but I had the stamina to finish it.

Chad Reed flies through the air on his way to his 34th career Supercross victory.

Millsaps finished third, four seconds off the pace while Honda teammate Windham one second behind.

With the win, Reed passes Rick Johnson on the all-time wins list. He now sits 14 behind Ricky Carmichaels 48 career victories for second place. He has even farther to go to top Jeremy McGraths record of 72 wins.

Earlier in the day, Kawasakis Ryan Villopoto won the AMA Supercross Lites race after passing holeshot winner Josh Grant of Honda on the third lap. Grant finished in second while KTMs Martin Davalos finished in third.

Season point leader Trey Canard struggled at the start but came back for second-straight fourth place finish to remain 17 points ahead of Villopoto.

The next stop in the AMA Supercross series is April 12 in Detroit.
