Reed Powers to Victory in Toronto
Reed powers to victory in Toronto
The AMA Supercross stop was scheduled for the night of March 29 long before Toronto, Ont. decided to join cities around the world to cut down on energy use for Earth Hour. Exterior lights at the building formerly known as the SkyDome were turned off between 8 and 9 pm EST but the interior lights remained on for the 36,888 fans in attendance.
Reeds victory marked his second straight win in Toronto, stretching his lead in the season standings over Torca Racing Fuels Hondas Kevin Windham to 20 points. Windham finished in second in Toronto ahead of Honda Red Bull Racings Davi Millsaps. Windham and Millsaps traded positions, and crashes, through out the race, allowing Reed to maintain his lead to the end.
I think this year we have been saying that each race gets tougher and tougher, says Reed. I did not want to crash in the main like I have in the last few races. The track had a lot of ruts and you had to be smart.
In the Supercross Lites class, BTO Sports Honda swept the podium with Shaun Skinner coming out on top of ahead of Matt Boni and Kyle Cunningham. The win was Skinners first career Supercross Lites victory.
That was a long race, says Skinner. I rode smart and smooth tonight. I tried to find a good line and keep moving forward. Our team swept the podium tonight, so we are really happy.
The next stop in the AMA Supercross series is April 5 in Dallas.
