Recall for Last-Gen Ducati Multistrada

Risk of fuel leakage
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Jan. 26, 2011
Ducati is issuing a recall for certain previous-generation Multistrada models.

According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, certain Ducati Multistrada models may be subject to fuel leaks at the tank pump flange seal. The recall campaign affects 2003-2004 and 2006 Multistrada 1100, the 2007-2009 Multistrada 1100, the 2006 Multistrada 620 and the 2005 Multistrada 100S. The new Multistrada 1200 and 1200S, introduced in 2010, are not affected by the recall.

After receiving reports of fuel leaks, Ducatis quality control department determined the O-ring coupling between the fuel pump and the fuel tank on certain Multistradas may not offer a sufficient seal.

The O-ring coupling the fuel pump and the tank on certain Ducati Multistrada models may not provide a proper seal.

Ducati has provided an updated fuel pump flange seal made from a different material and featuring a new x shaped cross section. According to Ducati, the x shape has four sealing surfaces instead of two, thus providing a better seal. Ducati dealers will replace existing O-rings with the new component.

The recall campaign affects 3,911 units.
