Norton Hires Ex-Ducati CEO Van Epps

Former DNA boss to lead Nortons US revival
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Nov. 24, 2010
Norton Motorcycles has hired former Ducati North America Chief Executive Officer Dan Van Epps to head its U.S. operations.

Van Epps will assume the role of CEO of Norton Motorcycles USA as the revived British brand returns to the American market.

We have been producing the new 961 Commandos for almost two years, and the orders have been well beyond our most enthusiastic expectations. Weve had to ramp-up production much earlier than anticipated to grow on pace with our customers requests, says Stuart Garner, owner and CEO of Norton Motorcycles. The exciting news is that we are now ready to enter the important U.S. market, and weve chosen Dan Van Epps be CEO of Norton Motorcycles USA. Dans depth of experience, and our policy here at Norton to add to the team only the best motorcycle industry professionals, makes him a perfect fit.

U.S. deliveries of Norton models including the Cafe Racer will begin in May 2011.

Van Epps led Ducati s North American operations before moving to Italy as Ducatis senior manager of product development and director of product marketing. In 2007, Van Epps later brought his experience with Ducati to Bimota to guide its global strategy.

This is really an exciting opportunity for us, and we are all confident about our future, however, I am keenly aware of the magnitude of the responsibility in the introduction of Norton to the USA, says Van Epps. We are fulfilling the dream and delivering the excitement of a truly iconic all British motorcycle. Partnering with dealers who likewise understand the significance of this brand and its rich heritage is critically important and will be the key to our success.

Norton will begin U.S. deliveries of its 961cc Commando lineup in May 2011. The initial product lineup consists of the Commando 961SE, Commando 961 Sport and the 961 Café Racer.
