Riding with the Road King.
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Mar. 12, 2007
My neighbor asked me if I would like to take his Road King for spin and I told him sure, as I had never ridden one. After a brief warm-up I eased her down the driveway and on to the open road.
I found the low speed handling to be quite awkward, but once under way, things seem to improve. Taking the King through a few curves at speed was strange to say the least. I could make the bike turn just by leaning over in the direction I wanted to go, with very little input to the bars.
When I returned the bike to the owner, I decided to look it over when I discovered the forks are located slightly aft of the steering head on the frame. I know of no other bike with this configuration and was wondering If anyone could enlighten me on the reason behind this design?
