Kawasaki Concours 14 with Variable Valve Timing!

By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Mar. 06, 2007
Among the kewl features of the new Kawasaki Concours 14 (early 2008 model; due in showrooms summer 2007) is variable valve timing. The intake cam has a hydraulically actuated mechanism that can advance/retard timing. Given that the engine has likely been detuned from the Ninja 14 specs in the interest of touring tractability, the variable valve timing is probably less about enhancing power and more about improving touring fuel mileage and helping to meet more-stringent emissions standards. But a picture is worth a thousand words, and a video is worth a thousand pictures: Check out the animation at the UK Kawasaki website:

See it work.
