For those who haven't caught wind of the news, the Triumph Daytona 675 triple supersport was outted a little early by the Spanish press. Reportedly, Triumph is not happy...

Oh, well. The good news for sportbike fans and anglophiles is that the new middleweight triple appears to mean serious business. It's claimed to be light, powerful and torquey. Claimed peak numbers are 123 HP and 53 ft. lbs.

But the real news is the power delivery. Aside from the typical manufacturer hype (strong low end/big midrange punch) rumor has it that Bike magazine got an early face-off with a ZX-6R and a CBR600RR and the Daytona spanked them. We'll have to wait for evidence, but it is interesting, no? Bike is said to generally confirm Triumph's claims: Light, powerful, great handling and a motor that pulls everywhere with a peak 116 RWHP.

Styling is up for debate. And I'm sure MOrons everywhere will have a strong opinion. It's a pretty bike, for sure, but it can be viewed as derivative of the Japanese bikes. Apparently Bike called the bike "stunningly beautiful" when viewed in the flesh. This seems to be the case with Triumph styling: inexplicably more attractive when seen in person. You be the judge; there's a nice official factory picture on raptorsandrockets.com. See if you can spot the new frame that seems to be a freshly-baked version of the unique Daytona 955i/Speed Triple frame, though this one is said to be a cast unit.

For those that want to be surprised and wait for the official release, don't look. News of the other two Triumph models was also leaked and appears on R&R, among many other sites.
