Heads-up display for motorcycle helmets

A company called Motion Research announced it will be selling heads-up displays for helmets statrting this spring. The units will show speed, rpm, and gear position. Speed info will be from an attached gps but the article doesn't mention how the device will get rpm and gear info. The full article with pics here.
