Hi,
I own an 85' yamaha maxim x, and just bought new stock mufflers (last stage cones). They aren't as nice-sounding as my old, rusted-out ones were... I was wondering if anyone knew of any intelligent way to remove/punch through the baffles in these pipes, or if this is even a good idea performance-wise. Any experience in the loudification of pipes would be appreciated. Thanks.
Stu.

Old two-stroke trick: Drill the pop-rivets off, pull the baffles, remove the fiberglass packing and wrap the baffles in thick aluminum foil. Viola! Instant stinger!
Your neighbors will hate you, and you'll probably make LESS power to boot.
Failing that, find some slip-ons.
