New website for Honda V-4

Europe-only contest offers test ride
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Jul. 24, 2009
Honda Europe has launched a new website dedicated to its V-4 project.

Based on the concept model unveiled last October at Intermot 2008, the new motorcycle is expected to be a sport-tourer powered by a 1200cc V-4 engine with variable cylinder technology which can allow it to run on only two cylinders to conserve fuel.

The new site, http://www.feelv4.com/, is sparse so far, as are the details about Honda s V-4 project, but Honda promises regular updates.

What the site does have is a contest giving one lucky winner the chance to test the Honda V-4 at the bikes press launch. Unfortunately, the contest is only open to Europeans.

Honda introduced its V-4 concept model at Intermot 2008.

The website also contains a video with the design project leader Teofilo Plaza explaining the concepts behind the new motorcycle.

Honda would like to make the things that (have) function and beauty perfectly combined, Plaza says in the video. This is a very sophisticated approach so we cannot start by engineering and then dress it up; we cannot make a beautiful bike and then try to make it run. This will never work.

Hondas new V-4 motorcycle is expected to begin production in the first half of 2010.
