Moto2 accepts 41 riders, 27 teams
A selection committee comprised of representatives from Dorna Sports, the International Motorcycling Federation and the International Road Racing Teams Association provisionally selected the teams from 47 applications which included 91 riders.
The 2010 Moto2 season was originally supposed to be a transition year with both the existing 250cc spec motorcycles racing against machines
For comparison, the 2009 250cc World Championship includes 19 teams with 26 riders. The number of potential Moto2 racers rejected or placed on the reserved list is nearly double the number of racers in the current 250cc class.
None of the applicants have been identified but they are expected to include most of the current 250cc teams and some satellite MotoGP teams.
Teams still have to confirm their applications in time for the Portuguese Grand Prix in October with details about team structures, machines to be raced and contracted riders. The final starting grid will be decided during the Portuguese Grand Prix weekend.
