McQueen’s red Indian 45ci Scout is the highlight of a collection from Michael Corbin, founder of custom seat manufacturer Corbin. The collection features other restored motorcycles including a 1906 Indian ‘Camelback’ Single, a 1948 Indian 74ci Chief and a 1970 Triumph 650 Bonneville.
The auction, which will be conducted by Bonhams & Butterfields, will be a part of the Legend of Motorcycle’s annual showcase in Half Moon Bay, Calif., south of San Francisco.
Bonhams’ web site estimates that McQueen’s Scout may sell for as much as US$80,000. In addition to Corbin’s collection, the auction will feature Evel Knievel’s 2004 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail and an 1894 Hildebrand & Wolfmuller Recreation.
McQueen, who died of cancer in 1980, starred in The Great Escape, The Magnificent Seven and received an Academy Award nomination for the 1966 film The Sand Pebbles.
