Making His Way to Sydney by Any Means
Making his way to Sydney by any means
An avid motorcyclist and co-star of the critically acclaimed documentary Long Way Round and its follow-up, Long Way Down, Boorman spent three months travelling from Wicklow, Ireland to Sydney, Australia as part of his latest project, By Any Means.
Riding a BMW R1200GS Adventure, Boorman led a convoy of 300 motorcyclists across the bridge with the iconic Sydney Opera House as a backdrop for the final stage of the 21,132 mile journey.
Along the way, they passed through countries such as Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran, India, Nepal and Indonesia on a variety of vehicles ranging from trains to dugout canoes to solar cars, capped off with the motorcycle ride to Sydney with friends and family.
It feels incredible to finally arrive in Sydney after an epic three and a half months
The final day of their journey began in Wollongong, Australia, 50 miles down the coast from Sydney where the three-man crew met up with representatives of BMW Motorrad Australia with a fleet of motorcycles including the R1200GS Adventure, an HP2 Megamoto, a K1200R and several R1200GS and F650GS bikes.
We were pleased we were able to supply Charley and his crew with BMW motorcycles to provide a fitting finish to his latest epic adventure, says Cameron Cuthill, general manager of BMW Motorrad Australia and New Zealand.
