Maddison lands Las Vegas jump

FMX star completes second New Year's Eve stunt
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Jan. 02, 2009
Robbie Maddison once again made history on New Years Eve by making a 10-story-high jump on a replica Arc de Triomphe. Co-headlining Red Bull New Year No Limits with Rhys Millen who performed the first-ever backflip in an off-road truck, Maddison completed the jump in front of the hotel and casino Paris Las Vegas.

The jump came a year after Maddison completed a record-setting 322-foot jump at the previous Red Bull New Year No Limits event.

After jumping over 105 feet high in order to successfully land on the top of the 96-foot-high and 40-foot-deep replica, he rode off the Arc and dropped 60 feet to a massive landing ramp below in front of a crowd of more than 300,000 people.

Robbie Maddison completed his New Year's Eve jump on a Yamaha.

The 27-year-old FMX star pulled off each brave feat with superb confidence and execution but sustained injuries to his left hand from the immense force of the impact upon landing.

I just cheated death again, says Maddison. Im ready to live another day and am extremely excited to see what 2009 holds for me. The risk level of my jumps was extremely high, and although I was confident in my abilities and preparation, I knew there could have been major consequences, but that is what pushing the limits is all about.
