Lawson wins Laguna Seca kart race

Motorcycle legend gets third win in Superkart event

Four-time world motorcycle champion, Eddie Lawson, piloted his #7 Yamaha-powered superkart to victory in record time the Super Stars of Superkarts event at Laguna Seca Raceway, Oct. 19.

Lawson started on pole and led every lap, narrowly beating the hard charging #9 superkart of Australian Sam Zavaglia at the Monterey, Calif. track.

The win was the third for Lawson and Yamaha at the Super Stars of Superkarts, an invitational event run in conjunction with the American Le Mans Series weekend at the famed circuit. Lawson also won the inaugural United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca in 1988 en route to his third world championship with Yamaha.

Lawson was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999 and was named a Grand Prix Legend by the FIM in 2005.
