KTM to make Isle of Man TT debut

RC8R to tackle the mountain course in three classes
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Feb. 25, 2010
KTM will make its first appearance in the Isle of Man TT in 2010 with its flagship RC8R superbike.

The Austrian manufacturer has never taken part in the legendary road racing event. Best known for its off-road models, KTM has been increasing their road racing efforts in recent years, and taking part in the Isle of Man TT seems like an obvious next step.

The Redline Motorcycles racing team will enter the KTM RC8R in the Superbike, Superstock and Senior TT classes with rider James Edmeades. The Loughborough, U.K., rider has competed in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Isle of Man TT events, and in 2009 finished fifth in the RC8 Super Cup Championship.

KTM will race in the Isle of Man TT for the first time with the RC8R.

The opportunity to become the first KTM rider at the Isle of Man TT Races is a tremendous honor for me and after the three great years I enjoyed between 2006 and 2008, I cant wait to get back on the Island, says Edmeades. The KTM RC8R is a superb bike and Im sure it will perform well around the course with its excellent handling qualities.
